Kelsey McCoy, PhD
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I am deeply thankful for a career that enables me to collaborate with children and families, fostering growth and resilience through evidence-based and culturally-responsive practices in both home and school environments. I advocate for a strengths-based, comprehensive approach that involves parents, therapists, teachers, school administrators, and other relevant professionals, providing essential tools for change and success.
My work involves assisting children in developing insight into their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, and in learning strategies and skills to effectively achieve their personalized goals and needs. Concurrently working with parents is also a crucial aspect of my practice, as it enhances family strengths, nurtures the parent-child relationship, and ensures the generalization and maintenance of treatment gains.
I have received extensive training in evidence-based assessment and treatment, including intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), along with certification in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). My expertise particularly lies in early childhood interventions targeting both externalizing and internalizing difficulties such as ADHD, anxiety, and disruptive behavior. I also have several years of experience working with children and families affected by trauma. My clinical training spans across various settings including schools, hospitals, residential facilities, telehealth, and outpatient clinics. I am dedicated to helping families identify protective factors and build resilience to overcome adversity.
